The beaches of Tenby
Tenby has 3 blue flag awards that were awarded in 2006. This shows the cleanliness, the safety and how great they are for families on holiday. Tenby is Pembrokeshire’s most popular holiday resort and boasts many environmental awards.
The four main bathing areas in Tenby are the South Beach, The Castle Beach, the North Beach and the Harbour Beach.
The South Beach is a stunning area of Tenby that spans a total of 2 kilometres. Golden sand and sand dunes galore; this beach is perfect for a great holiday destination. There are daily lifeguards at work during the summer months, toilets, a few shops and lots of facilities to hire items for water sports.
The Harbour beach is not as large, but is just as beautiful. The small, picturesque beach can be found at the back of Harbour Bay. You can walk along the paths at the side of the beach or go on the walkway to the cliff base that takes you around to the North Beach.
The North Beach is one of the beaches to have a blue flag for cleanliness of both the water and the beach itself. You can view the North Beach from Tenby and is overlooked by it perfectly. During May through to September there is a dog ban on the beach; this is to maintain the cleanliness and the family friendly beach standards.
Castle Beach sits perfectly in-between Castle Hill and East Cliff. This beach is easily accessible and is only a very short walk from the town of Tenby. There are cafes, toilets, deck chair rental and a hire facility on the slipway down to the beach itself.
All of the beaches in Tenby are just stunning and are perfect places to relax and enjoy your holiday.
